Lobbying Committee established in the Bar
The Ukrainian National Bar Association has announced the launch of its Lobbying Committee. This was announced by the UNBA spokesperson, attorney Oleksiy Shevchuk.
The purpose of the committee is to develop mechanisms for a clear distinction between the practice of law and the profession of lobbyist, as well as to protect the rights of lawyers in the process of formulating legislation on lobbying.
The Committee’s priorities include:
- Preparation of a guide for lawyers on how to distinguish the profession of a lawyer from the activities of a lobbyist;
- meeting with representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to discuss amendments to the Law on Lobbying in terms of guarantees for lawyers;
- consultations with the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) for official clarifications;
- developing a training course for lawyers on lobbying;
- creating standard documents for lawyers who may engage in lobbying activities (contracts, reports, etc.).
According to Oleksiy Shevchuk, the creation of such a committee is an important step towards establishing transparent rules in the field of lobbying and raising the level of legal culture in Ukraine.
