The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association has introduced the institution of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner in accordance with EU requirements
Today, the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association officially presented the introduction of an anti-corruption component in its activities. The innovation was implemented by introducing the institution of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner, which meets the modern standards of the European Union and the requirements for professional associations representing the interests of lobbyists at the national and international levels.
The decision to establish the institution of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner is a key step towards strengthening transparency, integrity and accountability in the EBA’s activities. This practice is in line with European approaches to self-regulation of professional associations involved in the processes of interaction with public authorities.
Yana Yuriyivna Tsymbalenko, the current Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, has been appointed as the UNLA’s Anti-Corruption Commissioner. Her professional experience, expertise and independence guarantee a high level of control and compliance of the Association’s work with European practices of anti-corruption supervision.
The introduction of this institution confirms that the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association builds internal processes on the principles of openness and zero tolerance to any manifestations of corruption. The Association officially informs the business community, European partners and public authorities that interaction with all subjects and objects of lobbying will take place exclusively within the established standards of transparency, integrity and professional ethics.
Separately, the EBA calls on the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to launch a systematic explanatory work on the mandatory implementation of the anti-corruption component for NGOs included in the Transparency Register as soon as possible. Clear methodological recommendations from the state will help unify approaches and increase the level of trust in the Ukrainian lobbying sector.
As the regulator of the lobbying profession in Ukraine, the UNLA is already working on preparing official clarifications on the practical requirements of anti-corruption compliance for all market participants. The document will be made public in the near future and will become the first comprehensive guideline for organizations and independent professionals engaged in or planning to engage in lobbying activities.
The introduction of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner is another stage in building a transparent and professional infrastructure for Ukrainian lobbying that is fully in line with European requirements and promotes the integration of the Ukrainian public communications market into EU standards.
