The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association congratulates Serhii Vlasenko on his election to the PACE leadership position

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe held elections for the leadership of the Assembly and its committees for a two-year term. As a result, for the first time in the history of the PACE Committee on the Election of Judges of the European Court of Human Rights, a representative of Ukraine, MP Serhii Vlasenko, was elected Chairman.

This decision is of great institutional importance for the state, as the chairmen of PACE committees are ex officio members of a number of the Assembly’s governing bodies, which provides Ukraine with additional representation in the Council of Europe. Serhii Vlasenko has been working in this committee for more than 10 years and has extensive experience in the selection procedures of judges of the ECHR, a court whose practice is a benchmark for national judicial systems, including Ukraine.

Against the backdrop of international recognition of his professional expertise, Serhii Vlasenko took part in a national professional event – the first practical meeting of the Higher School of Lobbying organized by the National Association of Lobbyists of Ukraine. The event took place on December 5 in the format of an open dialogue between business, experts and lawmakers.

As a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and one of the co-authors of the Law on Lobbying, Serhii Vlasenko became the first speaker of the new educational format. During the meeting, the participants discussed key issues of establishing the lobbying profession in Ukraine, including the line between advocacy and lobbying, prospects for self-regulation, European and American approaches to regulation, and practical steps after the adoption of the law.
