UNLA started developing the professional standard “Lobbyist”

The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association, together with the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) and the European Business Association, have officially started working on the development of the professional standard “Lobbyist”.

This is the first systemic step towards institutionalizing the lobbying profession in Ukraine in line with the European principles of transparency, ethics and professional responsibility.

The purpose of the standard development

The formation of a professional standard involves:

  • defining clear qualification requirements for the profession of lobbyist;
  • establishing common ethical and professional rules of conduct;
  • creating a transparent model of interaction between business, government and civil society;
  • implementation of the best practices of the European Union and the OECD.

The development of the standard is aimed at establishing a regulatory and institutional framework for the development of a civilized market for the representation of interests in Ukraine.

Institutional partnerships

The participation of the NACP as the key government agency in the field of corruption prevention and the European Business Association as the leading business community in Ukraine confirms the strategic nature of this process.

The involvement of the state regulator and business representatives ensures a balance of interests and the formation of a lobbying model that meets the principles of integrity, accountability and European integration.

Formation of a new profession

The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association has been consistently developing the institutional framework of the lobbying profession as an integral part of a modern democratic state and transparent economy.

The introduction of a professional standard will serve as a foundation for training specialists, developing self-regulation, and increasing trust in the lobbying institution in Ukraine.

This is an important step towards creating an open, professional and European-oriented market for representation of interests.
