Representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association participated in a discussion on the legal regulation of electronic evidence and OSINT materials
On September 25, representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association took part in a regular meeting of the Working Group on Regulating the Use of Electronic (Digital) Evidence and OSINT Research Materials, established under the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement.
The meeting was held in a hybrid format and brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, the legal community, and experts. Participants discussed proposals to amend the general provisions of Chapter 4, “Evidence and Proof,” of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the advisability of legislatively regulating the procedure for identifying, documenting, examining, and using virtual assets in criminal proceedings.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that the rapid development of digital technologies requires clear and consistent procedural rules to ensure the relevance, admissibility, and authenticity of electronic evidence, as well as the effective use of OSINT findings.
The need to further improve Ukraine’s criminal and criminal procedure laws, taking into account the provisions of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, was also noted. Representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association had previously emphasized the importance of this approach, highlighting the need for precise legal mechanisms to document crimes, protect victims, and ensure that accountability is inevitable.
UNLA’s participation in the group’s work promotes professional dialogue between government agencies and the expert community to develop modern, consistent, and effective legal regulations in the field of digital evidence.
