Statement by the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association Regarding Reports on the Procedure for Appointing the Head of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention
The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association, having reviewed the information published by Transparency International regarding the circumstances surrounding the former Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Justice of Ukraine and former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America, Olha Stefanishyna—as well as after reviewing the relevant materials by the Association’s Anti-Corruption Commissioner, draws attention to the public outcry surrounding the information released by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office regarding the procedure for appointing the Head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.
Given that the National Association of Lobbyists of Ukraine is a self-regulatory organization and one of the key stakeholders in the field of lobbying, and that it regularly interacts with the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) on matters related to the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Lobbying,” we call on the Head of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention to publicly provide comprehensive clarification regarding the information that has been made public, in order to dispel any doubts and preserve trust in the institution.
The Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association expresses its confidence in both the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and assumes that all circumstances must be objectively clarified in accordance with the procedure established by law.
We hope that the information, which has received widespread public attention, will be properly clarified, and that any doubts regarding the independence, impartiality, and integrity of the NACP’s leadership will be dispelled. Openness, transparency, and timely communication are essential for maintaining public trust in state anti-corruption institutions.
