Representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association joined the discussion on mechanisms for compensating for losses caused by Russian aggression
On September 17, 2026, representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association, including Vitaliy Globa, Oleksandr Chernykh, and Oleksiy Shevchuk, Chairman of the UNLA Board, took part in a public discussion titled “Procedures and Mechanisms for Compensating Losses Incurred by Citizens and Businesses as a Result of the Russian Federation’s Aggression,” which took place at the UNIAN press center.
The event brought together Ukrainian and international lawyers, academics, and representatives of the business community to address one of the most pressing issues of wartime: how to turn documented losses into legally sound claims for compensation.
During the discussion, the experts examined national and international mechanisms for compensating losses, the challenges of proving the loss of property, income, and profits, the prospects for enforcing court decisions, and the procedure for submitting information on international crimes to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
In her remarks, Vitalia Hloba focused on harmonizing the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the provisions of the Rome Statute and on new approaches to accountability for international crimes. She emphasized the importance of establishing a clear and practically effective national legal system capable of ensuring the proper classification of crimes, their effective investigation, and the prosecution of those responsible.
Also participating in the discussion were Oleksiy Shevchuk, Chairman of the UNLA Board; Oleksandr Chernykh, Member of the UNLA Board; Taras Onyshchenko, attorney at Barristers Law Firm; Svitlana Zaderayko, Deputy Director of the KNEU Law Institute; Ani Mkrtumyan, Head of the Secretariat of the Diplomatic Legal Hub, and Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Co-Chair of the British-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce.
The participation of UNLA representatives in such professional discussions helps to bring together the legal and business communities, disseminate practical information on protecting the rights of victims, and establish effective mechanisms for the recovery of Ukrainian businesses.
