UNLA at the Economic Forum: Transparent Lobbying, GR, and Engagement with the Government

Representatives of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association (UNLA) participated in the Economic Security Forum, which served as a platform for discussing economic security, public policy, investments, sanctions, and Ukraine’s development prospects.

The Association was represented at the forum by its president, Oleksiy Shevchuk. Also participating were Elvira Lazarenko and Vitaliya Nesterenko, representatives of the Barristers law firm, as well as the executive director of UNLA.

The team’s involvement brought together two interrelated areas of professional practice: transparent lobbying and GR (Government Relations), as well as legal support for complex regulatory processes.

Lobbying as a Tool for Transparent Interaction

One of the key themes of UNLA’s participation was the role of professional lobbying in the interaction between business, government institutions, and international partners.

Modern lobbying does not involve backroom deals, but rather open, professional communication, the use of legitimate mechanisms to influence public policy, and the representation of interests in accordance with established procedures.

For businesses, this is an opportunity to convey their position to government authorities, participate in the development of regulatory decisions, and establish a systematic dialogue with government institutions.

Elvira Lazarenko leads the sanctions compliance and sanctions practice at Barristers, specifically handling complex legal proceedings related to challenging sanctions.

Vitaliya Nesterenko combines her work at a law firm with her role as executive director of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association and is responsible for the GR division and its legal support.

The combination of these competencies makes it possible to address issues related to the interaction between business and the government in a comprehensive manner, taking into account regulatory requirements, legal mechanisms, and the specific characteristics of how government institutions operate.

The Economic Forum as a Platform for Professional Dialogue

Along with panel discussions, professional networking, the exchange of experiences, and the establishment of partnerships play an important role in such events. Discussions on economic security, sanctions, investments, and international cooperation create opportunities to find common solutions and foster collaboration across different sectors.

For the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association, participation in such events is part of its efforts to develop professional lobbying, promote the principles of transparency, and foster a culture of responsible interaction between business and the government.

Professional advocacy, sound legal support, and an understanding of regulatory processes are key components of a dialogue aimed at developing well-founded decisions and ensuring Ukraine’s long-term development.
