The Odessa Bar Association and Professional Lobbying: New Opportunities for Legal Cooperation

Following the publication of the main news story about the opening of the Odesa branch of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association, we continue to share the atmosphere of this landmark event. The event brought together representatives of the legal community, state and local government bodies, the business community, international experts, and academics to discuss the development of transparent and professional lobbying in Ukraine.

Olena Dzhaburia, Acting Chair of the Odesa Regional Bar Association, emphasized in her speech the role of the legal community in shaping the legal and ethical standards of lobbying. She also highlighted the challenges and new opportunities that the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Lobbying” presents for the legal profession. These issues were among the key topics on the event’s agenda.

Sławomir Majman—former head of the Polish Information and Investment Agency and deputy director of the Polish Institute of Security—also shared his international experience. He spoke about Poland’s experience in using public advocacy and transparent lobbying mechanisms to attract foreign investment, and outlined the role of business associations in shaping effective public policy.
